MF644Cdw support on Chromebooks?

Google has turned off Cloud Print effective December 31, 2020.

 

You can still connect a Chromebook directly to a printer on your network.  For this printer anyway, Chromebooks auto detect the printer on the network and provide an "Add printer" button for it on the printer setup page.

 

That's where things fall apart.

 

You are presented with a message that the printer "could not be configured automatically" and you are prompted for the Manufacturer and printer model.  The list of models for Canon is extensive but contains no MF devices at all.

 

I assume one of the other built-in "supported" drivers would work but I have no idea which.  Can anyone familiar with this printer and compatibility with other Canon printers chime in?

 

I see tons of BJ*, BJC*, LBP*, MultiPass, IPR*, iR-ADV*, ImageRunner*, but not one MF.

MF4150 Scanner Problem - Failure to Scan

Hello

I am trying to scan FROM the printer to my computer. How can I do this. I can happily scan by issuing commands to scan from my Computer (but bot be pressing buttons on the actula prnter/scanner)

 

Also, I have a darrk vertical line when I am scanning from the feeder.

 

Any suggestions?

MB5150 - add cloud app to printer main screen?

Dear forum,

 

is it possible to add cloud link apps (especially "Scan to Email") to the main screen of the printer and use presets (e.g. for an acount)? It takes too many clicks to scan to email using Canon Cloud Link.

 

Alternatively, can Cloud Link's email server be used to "Email directly from device"?

Pixma G1220 Not Printing Center

Hello All,

 

I recently purchased a Pixma G1220 and have been running into some issues when it comes to the margin/border width. It consistently prints with the bottom and left side border (the last end of paper feeding into the printer and left side) about a 1/4 to 1/2 inches larger than the rest, even when printing from Chrome or just from normal Windows Photos.

 

I've confirmed that the margins are set evenly in the computer when planning to print, that the paper is straight, have done the printer head realignment, updated my computer to the most recent version of Windows, and have also downloaded the most recent driver for my printer.

 

I print on 5x7 paper, which isn't a default paper size on this printer. (I think? Sometimes it shows but sometimes I need to select a custom paper setting I made, but the measurements are correct and should be centered regardless)

 

Now I'm not sure if it's an issue with my computer or if I should just return this printer since it's still very new. Does anyone have any fixes that I could try out?

i just bought this Canon image class MF445DW and i just started to print blnak pages with lines and empty sqaures. its been impossible to get a hold of someone from canon when i call. i hae a macbook pro with MACOS BIG SUR. my toner is basically full any ideas ? very frustrated about this

Hi, I have a Canon. MF210 Series printer and recently updated my Mac OS to Big Sur 11.1 version so now when I try to print I get a Filter Failed message. What driver update do I need to make my printer work with this latest Mac OS?

mf644cdw prints images but not text

I'm printing a Microsoft Word document (shown below) to my MF644Cdw printer and it is not printing the text but it does print all images including the black "hand drawn" text from the document as seen in the second image below. I just replaced all four toner cartridges (using Canon cartridges) and the printer correctly indicates they are all full.

 

Is the font rendering in the printer somehow broken?

Are there any diagnostics I could try in order to help figure out what's going on?

Any other ideas?

reconnecting imageclass 733cdw scanner to computer

I had to replace my hard drive and now I can not get my scanner icon to scan.  It  is like it isn't there even though the icon is there.

I have the Canon mf212w printer. I loaded a new toner and now it prints with three smudges near the center of page every 3 inches down.  I put the old toner back in and it doesnt smudge. How do I fix the new toner ?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but I'm hoping I can get some help here.

 

I haven't had many issues with this printer, but now I won't stop getting vertical white streaks when I print, and sometimes I get coloured lines across the paper. 

 

I saw that a possible fix would be to clean the fixing assembly, but every time I try to do that the paper jams. I can't seem to win against this printer.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

PIXMA G5020 on MAC - How do I add/access different media types?!

Does anyone know how to get the G5020 to "see" different media types on Mac OS? I only ever see the following media types:

 

- Auto

- Envelope

- Photo

- Plain Paper

 

Doesn't matter which print dialog I use (app-specific or system), there's no way to add/edit, and there are no additional options. 

 

I've updated drivers, re-installed software, and done everything else, but I simply cannot add/find/access additional media types.

 

I've read somewhere on the forums that these are the only media types available via AirPrint, but even when I connect the printer directly to my Mac via USB… that's all I get. 

 

It's super-limiting and (I feel like) it's preventing me from taking full advantage of the quality capability of the printer.

 

Any help or insight you can provide is greatly appreciated!

 

Near Constant Errors on LBP622Cdw

Since this is my first post and I am in dire need of assistance, would you PLEASE send me a message with the exact reason SHOWN as to why this post is being rejected!

 

I'm a massive stroke survivor and still managed to get the printer unboxed and set up by using the packaging bag itself to lift the entire printer to my desk before separating it from the bottom Styrofoam and the bag (Thank you Cannon for heavy duty bags).

As if that wasn't difficult enough,I just finished setting up my Cannon ImageClass LBP622Cdw according to the setup video and finished the installation program with the provided DVD disk and can do NOTHING with the printer.

Firstly:

My Motorola Modem/router combo has TWO bands. My PC is on the 5G band and the printer can only connect to the 2.4G band. There is NOTHING in the provided information which covers this. Can it work that way since they are both connected to the same router? Even when I connect my PC to the 2.4G band the printer still errors out and will not print.

Secondly:

My printer CONSTANTLY goes into error mode without hardly ever providing a reason for the error light flashing. Most of the time it reports a No Paper error even though it has a full paper tray which has been opened and the stack fanned and then closed and the no paper error continues.

Thirdly:

Is powering off and powering the printer back on the only way to clear the flashing error light?

Fourthly:

ONE TIME, and only ONE TIME, the printer display reported "Ready To Print" and the split second I selected the print option for a desktop .png file the printer IMMEDIATELY went into flashing error mode again!

Fifthly:

Is there a way to connect the printer directly to the PC via WiFi without going through the router and if so, can my PC remain on the router 5G Band while the printer connects to my PC via the 2.4G Band?

UPDATE:

I was able to produce 5 printouts yesterday after hours of fighting with the printer and now I have more questions.

1 - WHY IS THERE NO DESKTOP ICON FOR THE PRINTER USER MANUAL SO I CAN FIND IT? The installation process stated it was installed by green check marking it during the software installation process using the provided DVD (which also DOES NOT play in a Bluray player - Try printing "PC ONLY" on the disk!!!) I use the Search Feature by right clicking on the Windows icon at the lower lef of my taskbar and enter Canon (yes, I noticed I've been spelling their name wrong) and it cannot find the User Manual which was downloaded and installed in some stupid  X86 file directory somewhere, AND I STILL HAVE YET TO FIND IT!!! The only thing I can find and open is a  Dark Grey  CANON APP that can't even tell me how much toner I have, but yet the installation prcess also green check marked  the toner monitoring software installation process as being completed too!

Give me the TOTALLY USER FRIENDLY EASE OF USE OF MY OLD HP 550C DeskJet printer I BOUGHT IN 1993!!!

That's TWENTY-SEVEN years ago, and it was EXTREMELY easy to use straight out of the box!!!

 

I'm not a Social Media person...IT TOOK ME OVER FOUR FREAKING HOURS TO FIND MY POST SO I COULD UPDATE IT!!! I entered my User name in an advanced search filter on the left after entering POSTS in the main search field AND IT FINDS NOTHING!!!! BUT THAT SEARCH QUERY WITH THOSE SPECIFIC SEARCH TERMS SHOULD HAVE LISTED THIS POST IMMEDIATELY!!!!

You see that little red envelope icon near the top right of this community page? It should have an active direct link to MY POSTS as one of the pop up options and something SO COMMON SENSE AS THAT to help the non social media NON FORUM FAMILIAR TYPES (as myself) to quickly return to their posted requests for help IS MISSING. The key word is help... That would be a HUGE HELP.

Through my struggles, and empirical (trial and ERROR after error after error - ad infinitum); I discovered that my PC can be on the 5G Band and the printer can be on the 2.4G Band of my router and it will still print the selected file.

LASTLY AND MOST IMPORTANT!!!

 

The manual was installed on my computer and I have no clue where it is or how to access it for help!!!

 

 

 

Big Sur Drivers for MF440 Series

I have recently updated my Mac to Big Sur. I have MF445DW multi-function printer and looks like Canon doesn't have drivers for this. Canon if you are listening, when are you going to release drivers for MF440 series? You need to keep up with OS releases.

Hi,

 

I am having a problem with my ImageClass MF232w laser printer.

 

It prints just fine from multiple comupters via wireless (WLAN).  However, when I try to use the MF Scan Utility I get an error message which says "Cannot communicate with the scanner"

 

Please note this worked in the past.

 

When I pull up the Canon MF Network Scanner Selector, the list is empty.  Somehow it has lost the value that used to be in there which based on the scan utility was probbably "Canon MF230 ser_D-C5D3C78802".

 

I tried re-starting both the printer and the computer.  The printer indicates that wireless networkd connectivty is good as evidenced by the fact that I can print to it just fine.  When I press the Scan-PC1 button, it asks to connect the computer.  But in settings it won't let me connect to any computer.  I am pretty sure this was setup before as well.

 

Finally, I could also scan directly from Photoshop, but now when I try to that it says "Could not open the TWAIN source".

 

Do I need to re-install the drivers?  I tried installing the drives on another computer, but got a permsision error (even though I am administrator and run using administrator) trying to do a Network install.  Seemed to work doing a USB install.

 

Please help, this is extraodinarily frustrating.

Imageclass mf628cw won't stop processing

So about 4 months ago my 628cw started to just light up when you send a print job to it and the processing/ data light will just blink green until you restart it. I have tried wireless wired and USB whe. Printing. I have Also updated all drivers on my computer and the printer itself. It does then when it's been on for a long time and when you first cut it on. You really have to play with it to get it to work . Such has opening and closing the toner many times or the paper tray . It also will jot make a copy while this is happening its like the printer gets stuck on warming up the printer side of the machine. Anyone have any solution or know a way to downgrade to old firmware?

Any way to test imagePROGRAF iPF6400 before $1k initial ink purchase?

Hello! I purchased an imagePROGRAF iPF6400 printer from another artist in town, who assured me that the printer functions wonderfully. It is indeed in great shape as far as appearances go, it powers on and seems to work properly in that regard. It indicates however that all of the inks are empty, and I was wondering if there is any way to test the print head prior to purchasing all of the ink tanks, which costs about $1,000. I'm coming from a PRO9500, so the PROGRAF seriies is quite a departure for me and I'm unclear if I have any options other than to purchase an entire $1k set of inks and possibly be stuck with them if the printer isn't functional. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Image class MF 8580 Cdw has red background when printing

My Image Class MF 8580 CDW prints a redish background on all print jobs (including B&W).

On copies, it has a single red streak running the length of the paper

 

I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to resolve.

MF645: Can't install driver

I wanted to install the driver for my MF645 (MF645Cx MFDrivers). The installer starts, asks for the language and for the connection type (USB or network). I select network and after some seconds the installer reports that I don't sufficient permissions for the installation. I have tried to install as my normal user and with Admin - no difference.

 

Can anyone help?
